Eliza E. (Bussard) Sanner-Geary, 99, formerly of Arona, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Easy Living Estates in Hunker, PA. She was born September 18, 1924 in Arona, PA. Daughter of the late Clarence and Rebecca (Higgins) Bussard. She was an active lifetime member of Arona United Methodist Church and often helped work the bake sales. As well as, an active member of the Arona Women’s Club. Eliza grew a vegetable garden each year and canned the produce. She enjoyed baking and made delicious nut rolls. She was a collector of Christmas trees, dolls, bells and salt and pepper shakers. Eliza hosted many Christmas celebrations at her home for the family. She was a very generous woman and enjoyed finding special gifts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also organized the Bussard family reunion for decades. In her younger years, she and husband Hud were busy raising their 2 sons, and moved frequently due to his construction jobs. In later years, she lived with second husband Jesse at the small farm in Middletown and had chickens, ducks and a dairy cow. She was very self-sufficient. She always kept her home clean and tidy and enjoyed re-painting her house. She loved traveling and went on cruises to the Caribbean Islands, Bahamas, St. Martin, St. Thomas and Puerto Rico. As well as, traveling to Las Vegas to the casino, Florida, Nashville, Branson, Montana and Colorado. She is preceded in death by both parents; first husband, Howard “Hud” Sanner; second husband, Jesse Geary; sons, Gary W. “Bootsie” Sanner and James A. Geary; two brothers, Clarence and Wade Bussard; sister, Rebecca Chicka and special sister-in-law, Norma Bussard. She is survived by sons, Ray E. (Cindy) Geary of Butler, PA and Larry H. (Linda) Sanner of Arona, PA; nine grandchildren, Sherry, John, Gary, Larry Jr., Travis, Leslie, Jessica, Sheley and Tyler; twenty-one great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, special daughter-in-law, Barbara Geary of Greensburg, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 12 pm – 3 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA 15663 – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Anthony officiating. Interment will follow at the Madison Union Cemetery.
